Growing the Kingdom Begins with You
Tips for Encouraging Others to Take Theological Classes
by Rose Mary Stewart, Director of Recruitment
One of the most powerful ways we can grow God’s Kingdom is by equipping, encouraging and empowering church leaders to spread the Gospel and to shepherd God’s children. That’s our mission at Leland Seminary, but we need your help to identify and inspire those who are seeking to deepen their faith.
How can you do this? Through every conversation. Every shared story. Every invitation.
Recruiting isn’t about pressure — it’s about possibility. It’s about recognizing the hunger in someone’s heart and saying, “There’s a place for you here.”
Consider Everyone You Know Who Might Be Interested
You may be surprised at how many people in your life are already asking deeper questions or feeling called to grow. Think about:
Church leaders without formal theological education or those seeking further study — Pastors, Deacons, Teachers, Children & Youth Ministry leaders, Grief Ministry leaders, and others faithfully serving every week.
Church members and congregants who have expressed curiosity about theology or a desire to explore their faith more deeply.
Family, friends, and colleagues who want to integrate a faith-based worldview into their professions — social workers, nurses, adoption agency staff, nonprofit leaders, and others who serve on the frontlines of human need.
Anyone with a hunger to deepen their knowledge of Jesus and God’s Kingdom.
Often, people are simply waiting for someone to notice their calling — and to encourage them to take the next step.
What to Share
The most compelling recruitment tool you have is your story.
When you talk with someone about Leland, consider sharing:
Why you chose Leland.
The specific program you’re enrolled in and what your experience has been like.
How Leland has strengthened your ministry, career, and spiritual growth.
Personal testimony opens doors that brochures never can.
