DATABASES

The Alma Hunt Library participates in two database consortiums which enables our students, faculty, and staff access to professional theological articles, of which the majority is full-text.

The first database consortium is through EBSCOhost and it contains two theological journal databases, which you are encouraged to use simultaneously.  The two theological journal databases are ATLAReligion* and ATLAS* ( or ATLASerials), and they can be accessed via this link: http://search.ebscohost.com/

*ATLAReligion is an annotated bibliographical index of journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion.

*ATLASerials is a full-text, online collection of major religion and theological journal articles selected by leading religion scholars and theologians.

The second database consortium is through FirstSearch and it provides students journal articles pertaining to the humanities.   The two databases containing information relating to religion are WilsonSelectPlus and ERIC.

To access the humanities databases, please go to http://www.firstsearch.oclc.org/

Once you have logged in, please select the Database tab.  Once the database page loads, please select the three databases you would like to search (you can only search three databases at one time) and then click on the SELECT button.  You will then be taken to the Basic Search page.  You also have the option of selecting the Advanced Search tab if your search requires it.

Merle d'Aubinge. St. Thomas Aquinas
This CD-ROM contains the complete text of St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica. The user will find that all inter-textual references are hyper linked as are all biblical references linked with the Revised Standard Version of the Bible: Catholic Edition. Some of the references have been modified to match the verse ordering of the current biblical translation.
The goal of the CD-ROM is to understand the Catholic faith as St. Thomas Aquinas did. While the Summa Theologica provides the strong doctrinal foundation, the Holy Bible and the Bible Commentary provide the necessary counter-balance of Divine Revelation.

Word Biblical Commentary
The culmination of more than fifteen years of research by a team of international scholars, Word Biblical Commentary covers the Old and New Testaments, taking into account textual, linguistic, structural, historical, and theological distinctions. More than 50 contributors, all of whom rank among the leading Christian scholars of the English-speaking world, wrote authoritatively on the portions of Scripture in which they specialize.
